Rewind Manipur Film Festival: Experience Manipur’s Cinema Classics in 4K

Some films are more than entertainment — they are pieces of our cultural memory.

Rewind Manipur Film Festival is bringing six rare Manipuri cinema classics back to the big screen in 4K digitised format, from 9–11 October 2026 at the Manipur University Auditorium, Canchipur.

The festival is jointly organised by the Department of Mass Communication & Media Archive and Research Centre, Manipur University, in association with NFDC, National Film Archive of India (NFAI), and MSFDS.

Mateng is proud to be the Media Partner for the festival, supporting an event that brings audiences together around some of the memorable films and personalities of Manipuri cinema.

Three Days. Six Films. A Lot to Rewind.

The festival’s screening schedule features two classic films each day:

9 October

🎬 Olangthagee Wangmadasoo — 1:00 PM

🎬 Meichak — 4:00 PM

10 October

🎬 Sanakeithel — 1:00 PM

🎬 Chatledo Eidee — 4:00 PM

11 October

🎬 Matamgi Manipur — 1:00 PM

🎬 Brojendragee Luhongba — 4:00 PM

But the festival isn’t stopping at screenings.

The three-day programme will also feature masterclasses, panel discussions and Q&A sessions, bringing conversations around Manipuri cinema, filmmaking and its history into the festival programme.

Adding to the occasion, many legendary and veteran artists associated with Manipuri cinema are expected to be present at the event. For film lovers, this makes the festival a chance to revisit the classics while also being around some of the people who have been part of Manipur’s cinematic journey.
